All about the waiting room

On Tuesday, May 27 at 11:00 AM (CET), registration for Copenhagen Marathon 2026 opens.

Due to expected high demand, we’ve introduced a digital waiting room. You can enter the waiting room before registration opens, and once it does, you’ll automatically be assigned a random place in line to purchase a race bib.

The purpose of the waiting room is to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience for everyone — and to prevent the ticketing system from becoming overloaded.

You can read more about how the waiting room works in our FAQ below.

FAQ
  • We’re expecting high demand for registration for the Copenhagen Marathon. That’s why we’ve introduced a waiting room to help reduce the load on our systems and secure everyone a smooth and fair experience.

All you need to do is enter the waiting room and wait for the registration to open at 11:00 AM (CET). Once it does, you’ll automatically be assigned a random place in the queue to purchase your race bib.

When your place in the queue is assigned, you will be able to see your estimated wait time and the number of runners in queue in front of you.

  • We’ll open the waiting room at around 10:30 AM (CET) on Tuesday morning, May 27. A link will be available on the front page of our website, copenhagenmarathon.dk/en, which you can click to enter.

From there, all you have to do is wait for registration to open. When it does, you will be assigned a random place in the queue — and you can await your turn to purchase a race bib.

  • No. Whether you’ve been in the waiting room for 5 minutes or 30 minutes, you’ll be assigned a random place in the queue when registration opens at 11:00 AM (CET).

  • No. There are 23,000 race bibs available for the Copenhagen Marathon 2026.

Since more than 23,000 people can potentially enter the waiting room — and because some may register more than one person at a time — you are not guaranteed a race bib until you have completed your purchase.

  • When registration opens at 11:00 AM (CET), the system first assigns random queue positions to everyone already in the waiting room.
Anyone who joins after that will be placed at the back of the queue.

This means that if you wait to click the registration button after 11:00 AM, you risk the queue already being so long that you may not get a race bib.

  • Det ville reelt svare til at åbne tilmeldingen på et andet tidspunkt. Det ville skabe et stort pres på systemerne, som kan medføre problemer, hvilket vi gerne vil undgå – ikke mindst for deltagernes skyld.

  • When it is your turn, a button will appear. From here you will have 10 minutes to click the button and enter the registration flow.
