Traffic changes and a true running party in the streets on 10 May

Copenhagen is renowned among runners as one of the best cities for running, and between spectators as one of the most entertaining once to cheer in. But this year, things will be even more exciting, as the entertainment along the course has been ramped up just a bit.

The course for the Copenhagen Marathon is, as always, very spectator-friendly, because the city’s size and especially the Metro make it easy to get around the entire route, so you can cheer on the runners from several locations.

“Last year we introduced a brand-new course for the Copenhagen Marathon, and it is the same course we are inviting a record number of runners onto this year. Spectators are a big part of the atmosphere at the Copenhagen Marathon, and we are always look forward to seeing locals, friends and family along the course. The support from spectators for the runners is always fantastic, and we know it means a lot to them,” says Lars Nissen, Head og Events at organizer at Sparta Athletics & Running.

This year, there are 19 entertainment zones along the course, where the party gets an extra twist.

  • Pedestrians and cyclists are asked to follow instructions from officials when crossing the route.
  • Please note, there will be parking bans in several places around the city from 9 May and on the day of the race, 10 May. We encourage everyone to pay attention to street signs. Illegally parked cars may be removed at the owner’s expense.
  • Closed streets will reopen as the runners pass by.
