Stats & facts 2024

The first Copenhagen Marathon took place in the streets of Copenhagen in 1980. Back then, the race had just 995 participants, but that number has evolved quite a bit since then.

In 2024, we hosted the 43. Copenhagen Marathon (the race was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19). 2024 was a record year, and for the first time in the history of the race, we sold out with 15,000 participants.

On top of that number came Sparta members, who are guaranteed a race number, as well as elite runners and special invitees, bringing the total number of runners to 16,363.
