Results from 2026

There was speed, smiles, and plenty of medal pride as over 1,800 excited children took over Fælledparken on Saturday for this year’s CPH Mini Marathon. The weekend kicked off with races, games, and marathon spirit for the youngest participants, just a day before the adults take to the streets for the Copenhagen Marathon.

CPH Mini Marathon: A ‘marathon’ for both young and old

Did you think marathons were only for adults? Not with us. At the CPH Mini Marathon, the entire family can join in on the fun of running, being active, and having a great time together. And we promise the children will have a day they’ll never forget as they walk, run, or race through Fælledparken.

This year’s Mini Marathon participants will take on the famous One Mile distance (1.6 km). That is because we will be warming up for September 2026, when Copenhagen will host the World Athletics Road Running Championships, WRRC Copenhagen 26. Here, runners from all over the world will gather to compete in the One Mile, 5 km, and half marathon. So the CPH Mini Marathon is the perfect opportunity for the whole family to test the distance.

The entire 1.6 km course is closed to traffic, marked, and staffed with people from Copenhagen Marathon, so everyone can run safely and have a great time. Of course with a race number on your shirt and a shiny medal waiting at the finish line – just like the adult marathon runners on Sunday.

There will be a total of three starts on the course. Two starts for the Family Run, where children and adults run together regardless of age, and one Children’s Run for slightly older kids (6-15 years old) who want to complete the distance on their own. This ensures plenty of space for everyone, whether you want to sprint the whole way or take a few walking breaks along the course.

And of course, there will be plenty of entertainment and fun for the whole family throughout the day. If you get hungry or thirsty, JOE & THE JUICE will be on site with their food truck, selling sandwiches and delicious juices.

Please note that all participants, both children and adults, must be registered with a race number.

What is included?

Different ways to participate
All children can run with an adult if they want to, and the older children (aged 6-15) can also complete the course on their own. The registration includes a race number and medal, as well as a hydration and refreshment station at the finish line.

Adults have the option to register as an ‘Accompanying Adult’ at a reduced price. As an accompanying adult, you can run alongside your child and use the refreshment station at the finish line, but you will not receive a medal. You’ll also run with a special race bib without a timing chip, so you will not get an official time.

Please note that an accompanying adult must run with a child at all times, and only one accompanying adult is allowed per child.

All of this is included when you register for CPH Mini Marathon 2026:

  • Race bib
  • Timing chip
  • Digital certificate
  • A shiny medal
  • Water and banana
  • Group warm-up
  • Fun children’s entertainment and activities throughout the event

Toilets
There will be toilets close to the start and finish area.

Race Bib Pick-up
You can pick up your race bib for the CPH Mini Marathon at the Copenhagen Marathon Expo in Forum from Wednesday to Friday (6th – 8th May).

The races

We’ll meet at the starting line 10 minutes before each race begins. Here, we’ll get ready and warm up alongside our mascot, Sprinter.

The Family Runs
If you’re signed up for one of the Family Runs, an adult is welcome to run along, but everyone participating must be registered for the CPH Mini Marathon.

The Children’s Run
The Children’s Run, on the other hand, is for children only, but adults are, of course, more than welcome to cheer along the route and at the finish line.

For mom and dad
Please note, it has previously been announced that the start and finish would be at Østerbro Stadium, but due to unforeseen work at the Stadium, both the start and finish line have been moved to Fælledparken. This means the entire event will take place in Fælledparken, and the start and finish line will be in the same place.

You can buy coffee, juice, and sandwiches at the JOE & THE JUICE foodtruck in the start/finish area.

The program

There will be three different starts on the course, collective warm-up, and fun entertainment throughout the day.

The Road to the World Championships

As Copenhagen gets ready to host the World Athletics Road Running Championships in One Mile, 5K, and Half Marathon this September, we have added something extra special to this year’s program.

In the start and finish area children (and adults) can stop by the Road to the World Championships zone hosted in collaboration with Danish Athletics and take on a fun and festive sprint experience.

Here, we have set up a 50-meter stretch where everyone can test their speed using professional timing equipment. Your time is recorded as you run, so you can see how fast you really are. You can also see how your speed compares to everything from World Championship runners to a car or even a leopard.

After completing your sprint, you can get a ‘Road to the World Championships’ temporary tattoo to take with you. In addition, all participants in the 50-meter sprint will be entered into a draw for 10 bibs for the One Mile run at the World Championships.

After the CPH Mini Marathon

When you cross the finish line, all runners – big and small – will receive a cool, shiny medal. There will also be water and a little something to help you refuel after your great effort.

There is also a special prize for the fastest runners in the One Mile Children’s Run at 11:00, where older children run on their own without an adult. The three fastest girls and the three fastest boys will each win a One Mile bib for the World Championships in Copenhagen on 19 September 2026.

This year’s Mini Marathon medal is designed by the Danish design duo Jonas and Martin from TOT Copenhagen. The medal is designed as a collage of some of Copenhagen’s most iconic places and symbols – from famous buildings and historic landmarks, such as the Marble Church, to the small everyday details that make the city unique like the Bicycle Snake. Think you can recognise all twelve symbols? Read more here and see if you were right.
