Get ready on race day

Get to the start

The start area is located on Øster Allé at Østerbro. It’s easy to access and in walking distance from the metro stations Vibenhus Runddel, Poul Henningsens Plads or Trianglen. Please note, that the start line up is only open to participants.

The start area opens at 7:30 AM to welcome the first runners.

It closes again at 5 PM after the last runner has crossed the finish line.

If you need some water to drink before the start, our helpers are ready in a small depot at the north end of the Runners Area – close to the main stage.

Race bag storage

Drop off your race bag at the bag drop in Runners’ Area. If you have a backpack or a gym bag, you can purchase storage in a Volt locker.

There are toilets in the start area at various locations. Please notice that there may be queues just before the start.

After you finish it is possible to shower and change. The shower and changing and facilities are located close to the finish area in Idrætshuset by Østerbro Stadion.

Transport: Get around easily and cheap on race day

The easiest way to get to and from the starting area is by public transportation – especially the metro.

DOT (Your Public Transportation) has created a special event ticket for Copenhagen Marathon. With the ticket, you can save money and use public transportation unlimited for 12 hours. The ticket is available to everyone and comes in two sizes.

Small event ticket:
Covers Copenhagen city center including Copenhagen Airport (zones 1-4).

Large event ticket:
Covers the entire metropolitan area including Copenhagen city center (zone 1-99).

The event ticket must be purchased in the DOT app. The app is free and can be downloaded by scanning the QR code on the left or by clicking the button below.

If you already have the app, simply scan the code or tap the button. This will take you directly to the ticket page in the app.

Don’t forget your race bib

The race bib must be placed visibly on the chest which means it should not be placed e.g. on the back or the lower body. If your bib is not placed correctly, it can affect your time keeping. please, make sure not to bend the bib, as it can damage the timing chip.

Start in the correct start group

Before the race, you have been assigned a start group based on your expected finish time. The color of your start group is on your race bib.

Make sure to start in the correct start group and please consider whether you should stand at the front or back of your start group.

Know your time keeping

Your time keeping is done by Ultimate Sport Service and in addition to an overall time, you will get split times for every 5 km and on the half marathon distance. It is possible for your friends and family to track you in the Copenhagen Marathon app.
