Course change at the Copenhagen Marathon
29. April 2024

When 15,000 marathon runners are sent out into the streets of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg on Sunday, May 5, there will be a slight course change along the way.

After 34 kilometers, the runners were supposed to turn from Kalvebod Brygge and left up Slotsholmsgade – with Børsen on their right. But since the terrible fire in Børsen on April 16, Slotsholmsgade has been closed off, and it will not be possible to run through the street to Copenhagen Marathon.

Instead, runners will continue under Knippelsbro and to the left down Havnegade, where they will have Børsgraven on their left and Nationalbanken on their right. At the end, turn right around the National Bank and onto Holmens Kanal, where you are back on the original course.

The route change means that we have to move the catering zone that should have been in Slotsholmsgade. Therefore refreshment zone has been moved to Havnegade and kilometer mark 33,9.

In light of the sad event where 400 years of cultural history was lost in the flames, a small course change is fortunately a problem that can be easily solved. And the course with the change is still measured up to all applicable standards.

The Copenhagen Marathon team would like to thank all participants for their understanding.
